The Y2K Trend, Are You on Board?

The Y2K Trend, Are You on Board?

The Y2K trend has been with us for a few seasons now, and it is still going strong. The early 2000s was a bit of controversial time in the fashion industry with women being held to a fairly unattainable aesthetic. The look was heavily centered on women who were very thin and for most part lacking any curves. Many female celebrities were bullied for their weight and how they looked.

Low slung jeans, skirts and trousers paired with crop tops and unbuttoned shirts dominated the look. Which for many women could look ridiculous unless they possessed the stick thin figure the aesthetic required. I think many ladies breathed a collective sigh of relief when this trend passed.

Fast forward to today and the trend still attains many of the same attributes as it did the first time around, albite it is a bit more forgiving these days. There is more than one way to do this trend, and we see more older people pulling it off, as well as people who do not necessarily have the traditional straight model figure. So, it seems one can dip their toe in the trend and adapt it for themselves.

So, what say you? Are you on board with this trend? Do you think only the very thin and the very young can pull this off? I am not in my twenties and I am not stick thin with a flat abdomen but I just may try some of these looks for Fashion Week. Would you try any of them?
